The Aurora Festival is held every August in Tanjay, Negros Oriental province. This event is a month-long religious festival that has been practiced since the Spanish times by devotees of Señor San Roque, who is believed to drive away evil spirits, diseases and pestilence. This religious festival had its beginnings two decades ago with the advent of the dawn rosaries for the Blessed Virgin. All 24 barangays were recipients of her image and are the ones used for the Aurora rosaries and prayers. The festival features evening novenas participated in by more than 40 clans, which culminate in a nocturnal fluvial procession at the Tanjay River. This event starts on August 31 and continues into the month of September.
Tanjay City Board walk is located in Mainit Beach, San Isidro . The boardwalk project is initiated by the late Gov. Emilio Macias II. It includes view decks at both ends and will be used soon as a jump off point for dolphin watching in the village.
