In 1963, Conrado Alcantara and his wife, Ladislawa, took one look at an 8,370 square meter property along Claveria Avenue (now Claro M. Recto Avenue) and decided that it was the perfect place for a commercial complex. Davao City then had just entered a time of progress in construction and even in business. The Alcantaras invited the Manila based group of Architect Roman Solitaria to build the first shopping center in Davao City, the Aldevinco Shopping Center or simply known as Aldevinco.
