The San Juanico Straight is the world’s narrowest yet most navigable strait and lies between the islands of Samar and Leyte. Beautiful islets are scattered on this emerald green waters punctuated by infinite whirlpools. At its narrowest point, the strait is only 2 kilometers (1.2 mi) wide, said to be the narrowest strait in the World. It is crossed by the San Juanico Bridge. The HVDC Leyte – Luzon powerline crosses San Juanico Strait as overhead line at with a tower on an ininhibitated island in the strait. This area is ideal for kayaking, and snorkeling.
