The beauty of these rice terraces along the mountain ranges of Bangaan is best seen when viewed along the road going to Mayoyao. This rice terraces cluster and village represent the native Ifugao lifestyle. It is a 40 minute drive from Poblacion, Banaue and 20 minute hike downhill to the village.
The rice terraces surrounding the town of Banaue are located in the province of Ifugao in the Philippines. Ifugao formerly belonged to the neighboring Mountain Province, but it became a separate entity in 1966.
You will find the province of Ifugao in the northern portion of Luzon, the largest of the Philippine islands. If you draw a straight line through Ifugao from Manila to the northern coast of Luzon, the province of Ifugao is a little north of the center of the line. Moreover, if you draw a straight line through Ifugao from the Pacific Ocean on the east to the South China Sea on the west, Ifugao is located on the midpoint of the line.
